BUFFALO, N.Y. — Storm Team 2 is celebrating the recognition of one of its members.
Maria Genero is part of the 2023 class of inductees into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY, Maria started her broadcasting career in 1984 at WYRK radio station. After a couple of years working in radio, Maria began working at the CBS affiliate in Buffalo as a weekend weathercaster.
Her career took her all across the country, from Miami to Los Angeles to New York City.
After several years in New York City, Maria returned home in 2001. She has been employed at WGRZ since 2006 where she does the evening weather forecast and various reports on Channel 2.
Also included in the 2023 class is actor Christine Baranski, anchor/reporter Jeff Glor, radio host Janet Snyder, radio disc jockey/ programmer Jerry Reo, WIVB art director Kurt Murphy, and WBEN/WGR/WKBW operations manager Tim Wenger.
