Cold Case: Police looking for leads in nearly 40 year old murder

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Crime Stoppers WNY is offering a reward or information in a nearly 40 year-old homicide in Buffalo. 

Michelle Kasperek was 13-years-old when her body was discovered on May 4, 1985, near the now closed Cardinal Dougherty High School on Hertel Avenue.

Investigators said back then that the body was found in a field in the Black Rock neighborhood.  They said her throat was viciously slashed and that she was nearly decapitated. 

At the time, police had a suspect in mind.  Police had evidence tested for DNA, but could not connect the suspect to the crime. 

The reward is up to $7,500 for information leading to an arrest or indictment of the person responsible for the homicide.
