Fitz Books & Waffles heats up downtown with the addition of waffles

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Aaron Bartley is nearly ready to launch the food side of his business at 433 Ellicott St., a move that will bring caramelized sugar waffles to the bookstore he opened six months ago.

Fitz Books & Waffles represents Bartley’s second career, three years after he left a 14-year passion project to boost housing on Buffalo’s West Side.

Bartley initially planned to open his shop on Allen Street as part of a larger, mixed-use project with a private gallery. That location didn’t pan out, he said.
