Buffalo waterfront parks closed until further notice because of weather

All City of Buffalo waterfront parks have been closed and will remain closed until further notice due to the upcoming heavy winds.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo has announced that all Waterfront Parks were closed at 3:30 p.m. until further notice due to the upcoming heavy weather.

In a tweet made by Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, he said "The City of Buffalo will close Waterfront Parks at 3:30 p.m. until further notice due to a High Wind Warning. Please use caution this weekend."

People can signup for the 'BuffAlert' system by texting your zip code to 38276.

Here's what Gov. Kathy Hochul had to say Friday afternoon ahead of the storm as she declared a state of emergency across Western New York on Friday.

"For my Buffalo Bills fans, here's the advice. If you have tickets to the game, listen to the forecast, drive safely back and forth. We don't anticipate changes right now, but stay tuned because the weather, Mother Nature, is wildly unpredictable. If you don't have a ticket, you just wanted to come out and have some fun, this might be a better day just to sit home and open up, bring out the six pack as has been advised by leaders in the past, and watch the game from home. It will be a lot safer and a lot warmer for sure," said New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
