Work has resumed on $19.5 million pavement rehabilitation project on Thruway in Chautauqua County

The project is focusing on a 13-mile stretch from the Pennsylvania border to milepost 483 past exit 60.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — Work has started up again on a project along the Thruway in Chautauqua County.

The New York State Thruway Authority announced on Wednesday that $19.5 million pavement rehabilitation project on a 13-mile stretch of road from the Pennsylvania state line to milepost 483 beyond exit 60 has resumed.

“Western New York is a gateway to tourism, commerce and economic growth.” Thruway Authority Executive Director Matthew Driscoll said. “The pavement improvements on this section of the Thruway will enhance safety and reliability for the thousands of motorists and commercial traffic who travel this stretch every day.”

The project will also include reconstruction of exit and on-ramps at exit 61 for Ripley-Shortman Road and exit 60 for Westfield-Mayville-NY Route 394. The project will also add more reflective line striping, guide rail replacement and drainage improvements and signage.

Lane closures and stopped traffic are possible while construction is happening.

The rehabilitation initially began in July 2021. Work is expected to be completed this summer.
