Canisius and Niagara men come up short, St. Bonaventure women lose 8th straight

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Here's a recap of local NCAA Division I basketball games happening around Western New York on Sunday.

ST. BONAVENTURE WOMEN

The St. Bonaventure women's basketball team traveled to Dayton to take on the Flyers. The Bonnies dropped their eighth game in a row on Sunday, 64-43 against conference opponent Dayton.

Dani Haskell and Nadechka Laccen both had 13 points, leading the way for St. Bonaventure.

The Bonnies will host Davidson on Wednesday at St. Bonaventure. Tip-off against the Wildcats is scheduled for 7 p.m.

CANISIUS MEN

Josh Pascarelli's 20 points helped Marist defeat Canisius 80-71 on Sunday.

Pascarelli shot 8 for 14 from the field, including 4 for 7 from the 3-point line, for the Red Foxes (10-8, 5-4 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Max Allen shot 9 of 14 from the field to add 18 points. Kam Farris had 16 points and shot 6 for 9, including 4 for 6 from the arc.

The Golden Griffins (8-12, 3-7) were led by Tre Dinkins, who recorded 18 points and two steals. Canisius also got 17 points and 17 rebounds from Frank Mitchell. In addition, Cam Palesse had nine points.

Canisius begins a two-game road trip next Sunday at Quinnipiac. Tip-off against the Bobcats is scheduled for 2 p.m.

NIAGARA MEN

Daniel Rouzan scored 10 of his 26 points in overtime to rally Manhattan to an 84-78 victory over Niagara on Sunday, snapping a 10-game losing streak for the Jaspers.

Rouzan had 13 rebounds for the Jaspers (5-13, 2-7 MAAC). Jaden Winston scored 16 points while going 5 of 8 from the floor, including 3 for 5 from 3-point range, and 3 for 4 from the line, and added seven rebounds and four steals. Shaquil Bender was 5 of 16 shooting, including 2 for 4 from 3-point range, and went 4 for 4 from the line to finish with 16 points.

Braxton Bayless led the way for the Purple Eagles (10-10, 6-4) with 21 points and two steals. Yaw Obeng-Mensah added 16 points for Niagara. Luke Bumbalough also had 14 points, four assists, and three steals.

Rouzan also had a layup at the buzzer to send the game to overtime tied at 73.

Niagara will travel to Saint Peter's on Friday. Tip-off against the Peacocks is scheduled for 7 p.m.
