BUFFALO, N.Y. — Saturday featured both University at Buffalo basketball teams in action, as well as the women's teams from Canisius and Niagara.

The slate was highlighted by a road win for the Purple Eagles and a career-best performance from UB's Chellia Watson.

NCAA Women: Niagara 80, Mount St. Mary's 63

After the Mountaineers pulled to within one early in the fourth quarter, the Purple Eagles finished the game strong on a 26-10 run to pull out the win in Emmitsburgh, Md.

Junior guard Aaliyah Parker led Niagara (9-11, 6-4 MAAC) with 17 points off the bench, to go with 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 7 steals, as the Purple Eagles earned their third win in a row. Parker joins her sister Angel as part of the 1,000 point club. They are now the first pair of sisters at Niagara to each reach 1,000 career points.

The Niagara defense created havoc for Mount St. Mary's, forcing 19 steals and 38 total turnovers, leading to a 37-13 advantage in points off turnovers.

Next up for Niagara is a trip to Canisius on Tuesday.

NCAA Women: Toledo 67, Buffalo 63

UB's Chellia Watson had the game of her life, dropping a career-high and school-record 47 points in a 67-63 loss for the Bulls at Toledo.

Watson was scoring at all three levels, draining three triples, going 10-for-10 at the free throw line, and connecting on 17 of her 30 field goal attempts.

The 47 points are the most ever in a game for any men's or women's basketball player at Buffalo.

Watson's free throw with 1:24 left tied the game at 63 after UB (10-8, 4-4 MAC) previously trailed by 12 at the halftime break. A jumper from Khera Goss and two late free throws Jessica Cook were the difference for the Rockets to hang on at home.

Up next for Buffalo is a visit to Ohio on Wednesday.

NCAA Women: Fairfield 70, Canisius 42

The Golden Griffins trailed wire-to-wire against the MAAC's leading team, with Fairfield improving to 9-0 in conference play after the 28-point win at home.

Athina Lexa led the Griffs (11-8, 6-4 MAAC) with 15 points off the bench. Fairfield outscored Canisius 32-10 in the paint and the Stags shot 50% from the field.

Up next for Canisius is a home game against Niagara on Tuesday.
