DEPEW, N.Y. — A Melvin J. Sliwinski Funeral Home in Depew is under new ownership and will reopen soon under a new name. Its sister location in Buffalo will be closed permanently.
Warren Family Funeral Homes Inc., a subsidiary of Newcomer Cremations and Funerals, purchased the funeral home at 5090 Transit Road for $2.05 million, according to documents filed Thursday with the Erie County clerk's office.
Previous owner and funeral director David Sliwinski said in a statement that he is stepping down and selling the funeral home for health reasons.
The Transit Road location has temporarily closed and will reopen soon as Newcomer Cremations and Funerals. Sliwinski's second location, at 85 George Urban Blvd., Buffalo, will be permanently closed.
