Buffalo Seminary hires new head of school from Manhattan

Buffalo Seminary has hired a new head of school to replace Helen Marlette, who announced last year that she is retiring.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Seminary has hired a new head of school to replace Helen Marlette, who announced last year that she is retiring.

The day and boarding school for girls announced Thursday that Blair Parker will become the 15th head of school effective July 2024, according to a news release.

Parker currently serves as head of upper school at Friends Seminary, a K-12 school in New York City. She has more than 20 years' experience in teaching and leadership roles at four schools, including the Emma Willard School in Troy; National Cathedral School, a girls’ 8-12 school in Washington, D.C.; and Riverdale Country School, a co-ed PK-12 school.

Parker has a master’s in independent school leadership from Teachers College at Columbia University.
