Delaware North donating $500,000 to Buffalo City Mission

The money donated will fund construction for a Delaware North Opportunity Center inside. It will serve as a learning center, and it will open in 2020.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Delaware North is donating $500,000 to Buffalo City Mission, all to give homeless Western New Yorkers a better life.

Buffalo City Mission is building a new community center at 100 Tupper Street.

The money donated will fund construction for a Delaware North Opportunity Center inside.

It will serve as a learning center, providing education, job training skills and other resources to help put people on the path to success.

"Delaware North's gift will open new opportunities that many of these individuals never had before," Buffalo City Mission CEO and executive director Stuart Harper said.

"It will lead to foundational skills and career development opportunities they've never had a chance to obtain. It will change lives."

Buffalo City Mission's community center will open in 2020. Of the $15 million fundraising goal for the project, nearly $2 million still needs to be raised.
