Thin Man purchased by another Buffalo brewery

The two had agreed to the deal, which pending approval, would give CWB the brand rights, and brewery assets of Thin Man.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Two Buffalo-based beer breweries will soon become one, as Community Beer Works has announced its acquisition of Thin Man Brewery

The two had agreed to the deal, which pending approval, would give CWB the brand rights, and brewery assets of Thin Man. Those rights would include recipes, distribution, and more from the 166 Chandler Street location.

“For more than a year, we have been searching for someone who can carry on the creativity and quality of Thin Man Brewery. We have finally found that match with CBW.” Thin Man's owner wrote in a press release.

Reasons for Thin Man's passing over to CBW are said to be because of the co-owner Bridget Termini's decision to "gear up for a well-deserved retirement."

Thin Man is popularly known for their drinks such as Pills Mafia, Minkey Boodle, Super Freak, Sci-Fi Hamster Wheel, and more.

Once the process is approved the brewing production for the two will be split between both company's existing facilities at 520 7th Street, and the former Thin Man brewhouse at 166 Chandler.

Thin Man's Elmwood Avenue location which they had closed the doors to in July was not included in this sale and remains closed.

CBW Co-Founder Chris Smith expresses the broader vision behind the acquisition “It’s a step forward in our commitment to delivering world-class beer experiences to the people of Buffalo and beyond.,” explains Smith. “Thin Man has gained international recognition and respect for their beer, and we are honored to carry their legacy forward.”

Paul Vukelic, President of Try-It Distributing said, “Community Beer Works and Thin Man Brewery are known for their high-quality beer, and this exciting acquisition brings two of our valued local partners together. We look forward to working with them to bring their great beers to market for years to come!”

“There’s much to decide, plan, and execute over the next few months, and we’re excited to share those plans as they evolve... we’re on the cusp of something truly special here in Buffalo, let’s have a beer and celebrate!” says Smith.
