Niagara Falls school district honors longtime teacher, coach

The Art Calandrelli Field was officially dedicated Friday morning. He died in 2004.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The Niagara Falls school district announced its football and track field has been be renamed for a longtime teacher and coach, Art Calandrelli, who passed away in 2004. 

The renaming effort was spearheaded by Calandrelli's daughter, Ellen Latham, who is the founder and CEO of OrangeTheory Fitness.

The Art Calandrelli Field was officially dedicated Friday morning.

Superintendent Mark Laurie says this is all part of a sponsorship initiative the district has started as a way to supplement sports programs.
