BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Williamsville man will spend one year in jail after hitting a pedestrian while driving drunk in February of 2019.

Michael Eddo, 51, was sentenced Friday by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi.

The Erie County District Attorney's office said Eddo was driving under the influence of alcohol on February 16, 2019, when he hit a pedestrian walking along the side of the road at about 1:20 a.m. The incident happened on Harris Hill Road, near Main Street, in the Town of Clarence.

Prosecutors say Eddo had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.19 percent at the time of the crash.

The pedestrian who was struck, a 51-year-old man, had serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. That person spent more than a month in Erie County Medical Center and is still recovering from those injuries.

Eddo pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated driving while intoxicated and one count of driving while intoxicated, both of which are misdemeanors.
