Niagara Falls Police asking for help following armed robbery

A suspect with a hammer attacked a female clerk before stealing cash and merchandise at a gas station Friday morning.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — The Niagara Falls Police Department is asking for help following an armed robbery that happened Friday morning.

The armed robbery happened around 7 a.m. at a gas station at Buffalo Avenue and 63rd Street, near the 190 and Niagara Scenic Parkway. That's where a suspect with a hammer attacked a female clerk causing serious injuries, before stealing cash and merchandise from the store.

Police said the clerk suffered serious injuries. The suspect reportedly walked east on Buffalo Avenue from 68th Street, according to police, who provided a photo of the suspect.

"During the course of the robbery, a male customer who was driving a black Acura sedan came into the store and had an interaction with the suspect as the suspect appeared to pretend that he was the store clerk," Niagara Falls Police said in a statement.

"Detectives are trying to locate that male customer to talk to him."
