IRS: the former Buffalo Grand Hotel owes $2.5M in unpaid taxes

Harry Stinson, a resident of Hamilton, Ontario, said he's still determined to remodel and reopen the hotel, which has been closed since a fire in December 2021.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The former Buffalo Grand Hotel and its owner are under government scrutiny on both sides of the border.

The IRS this week filed a federal tax lien against Buffalo Grand Hotel Inc. with the Erie County Clerk's office. The company has nearly $2.5 million in unpaid federal taxes dating back to 2020, according to the IRS.

Meanwhile, Canadian regulators say the hotel's owner, Harry Stinson, misled investors while raising $19 million to buy the property.
