Clarence chalks up another $1 million home sale — its eighth since March

CLARENCE, N.Y. — Clarence continues to lead all suburban Erie County communities with $1 million-plus home sales, with the eighth such residential transaction reported since March.

Former Buffalo Sabres defenseman Richard Smehlik and his wife, Martina, sold their 4,716-square-foot, four-bedroom house at 8824 Hearthstone Dr. to John and Demytra Mihalidis for $1,050,000, according to documents filed Oct. 20 in the Erie County Clerk’s office.

“Clarence is hot because of the homes that are there, the school district and the amenities the town offers,” said Michelle Winer, Hunt Real Estate Corp. broker. “Clarence is the first place many upscale buyers, especially people out of the area, look.”
