Douglas Jemal buys another historic downtown Buffalo building complex

The purchase adds another large property to Jemal's planned Electric District development.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Douglas Jemal has purchased the historic Genesee Gateway building, a 60,000-square-foot complex at the corner of Genesee and Oak streets in Buffalo.

Jemal's Seeburg Building LLC purchased the buildings and a parking lot across the road at 62 E. Chippewa St. from the Margaret L. Wendt Foundation for $2.55 million, according to records filed with the Erie County clerk's office.

The purchase adds another large property to Jemal's planned Electric District development, a proposed neighborhood of apartments and commercial space clustered around the former Simon Electric properties on Elllicott Street.
