Dash's Market celebrates 100 years

The business includes around 55,000 customers a week, over 500 employees, scheduling about 2,000 shifts a week and working with around 275 independent vendors.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Staying in business for a century isn’t easy. Running a multigenerational family business isn't, either.

Yet Dash’s Markets has managed to do both. The company is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, based on three generations of CEO Joe Dash’s family being in the grocery business.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to serve Buffalo and Western New York for 100 years,” said Dash. “We’ve had tens of thousands of great employees over our numerous locations. They have really been the reason we’ve had the success we’ve had.”

His grandparents first opened their own store in 1923 and in the early 1960s, his family became Tops Friendly Markets franchisees and continued that relationship for over 40 years.
