Buffalo AKG Art Museum launches 'pioneering' partnership with LEGO Foundation

The AKG is the first museum globally to partner with the LEGO Foundation on a dedicated space focused on learning through play, said Charlie Garling.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — When it reopens later this year, the new Buffalo AKG Museum will featured expanded programming for kids and the public through a new partnership with the LEGO Foundation.

The three-year partnership will be fueled by a six-figure contribution from the Danish toymaker. It supports the new Creative Commons, a 2,000-square-foot space adjacent to the new 6,000-square-foot Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Town Square in the Knox Building, where visitors will be able to experience the museum’s collections and exhibitions in creative, tactile and educational ways.

The space – free and open to the public – will include a LEGO build area where visitors can scan their creations in 3D and view them alongside images of art from the museum collection; a free-build area, a magnet wall, a digital drawing station and an area that plays with the idea of perception.
