Multiple crashes snarl traffic during snowy Wednesday morning commute in WNY

Several accidents caused multiple lane closures and traffic backups across Western New York Wednesday morning.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The winter weather impacted the Wednesday morning commute and caused congestion on several roadways.

According to Traffic Tracker 2's Dave Cash, there was a two-vehicle accident blocking the left and center lanes on the inbound 33 before Eggert Road around 7 a.m.  That accident also caused traffic to back up from the I-90 to Eggert Road.

NITTEC also reported several other crashes Wednesday morning resulting in lane closures.

Two crashes on and near the northbound, north Grand Island bridge caused major backups during the morning drive.

One crash on the north bridge forced the closure of the left lane for more than an hour.

The second crash happened on Grand Island, in the northbound lanes just before the bridge itself. That caused traffic to back up past Whitehaven Road.

A spinout crash on the I-290 eastbound near the Colvin Boulevard exit had the left lane closed around 7:30 a.m. and that accident was clear a little before 8 a.m.
