New year, new gas prices

Hitting the road and driving into a new year with some lower gas prices.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The gas prices are off to a low start this new year in Buffalo since last week.

AAA and GasBuddy have released the average gas prices in Buffalo to be an average of $3.41 as of Tuesday, January 2. The price has fallen 4.6 cents per gallon in the last week.

GasBuddy's survey of 472 stations in Buffalo determined, that the gas prices are 14.3 cents lower per gallon than a month ago but, is 4 cents higher than last year.

In Buffalo, the cheapest gas station price was $2.67 and the most expensive priced station was $3.69 per gallon.

The national average price of gas has fallen 1.6 cents per gallon in the last week which averages at $3.06 as of Tuesday, January 2.

"After a brief hiatus, the national average has moved off its recent high, again falling closer to the $3 per gallon mark, setting up a potential second attempt at slipping below $2.99 for the first time since 2021," head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, Patrick Haan, said.

Haan also says that in other good news, diesel prices continues to lower, as they have fallen to $3.96 per gallon which is 4.5 cents less than last week.
