DEPEW, N.Y. — Local fire departments are working to recruit more members.
In Depew, a showcase recruitment event encouraged neighbors to stop in for an open house. There were demonstrations on car extractions, aerial ladders, and hose operations.
It's all to try and find those looking to give back to their community as a future firefighter.
"It's a great second family to have, great family atmosphere," said Michelle Trala, a recruiter for the Depew Fire Department.
"Both my kids are here running around. They've grown up in the fire department, and it's just a great way to help out, help people in your community and do great things."
The Depew Fire Department said there is a job for anyone who is interested, regardless of their abilities.
