Buffalo's first named wing shop launches the original sauce

The "lip-smacking and liver-quivering" concoction will be available by bottle for the first time.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo's original wing sauce that started it all is being relaunched to kick off the new year.

John Young's Original Mumbo Sauce was originally sold in Western New York's first official wing shop by the owner of Wings N' Things on Jefferson Avenue in 1961.

The sauce is making a comeback after two decades, on Saturday, January 6 at the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor for its launch party event from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

John Young's original sweet and tangy sauce can be put on anything, but if you're from Buffalo, it's obvious what you may use it for.

In a Facebook post people are able to get an inside look at the production of the sauce and they wrote, "Today we bring you inside the operations at our co-packing facility, during the first production run."

Today we bring you inside the operations at our copacking facility, during the first production run. It was incredible to see this long term project finally come to fruition. We can’t wait to share this with y’all! #mumbosauce #buffalony #makinghistory #buffalo716 #buffalofood #buffalofoodie
