BFD gets new safety equipment donated

The Buffalo Fire Department says the tags will be rolled out to each firehouse over the next few days.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Fire Department has some new safety equipment thanks to the Firefighter Jason Arno Memorial Foundation.

"Rapid and accurate identification under hazardous conditions is ensuring safety, the fam foundation providing a lasting tribute to Arno's legacy and memory, protect lives and property of our citizens," BFD Commissioner William Renaldo said.

"It's reflective material, it's fire resistant it's basically heavy duty. its rubber, what it does is gives the ability for counter ability officers for our personnel on the fire scene to give one more ability to see for identification of a company, if someone might not know what company... if they get separated from some of their members they might see the reflective tag on the front or back of their scuba," Timothy Max Jr. with the Buffalo Professional Firefighters Association said.

Each set costs about $100 and the fire department now has about 200 of them ready to go. The Buffalo Fire Department said the tags will be rolled out to each firehouse over the next few days.
