Erie County auto bureau sets up new rules to stop coronavirus spread

Starting today, they are now only performing transactions for Erie County residents.

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — As state and local authorities try to slow the spread of the coronavirus, some services, like the DMV are setting new rules.

Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns has also announced a number of changes for the County auto bureaus. Kearns announced the following changes. 

  • Eastern Hills Mall Auto Bureau - SERVICE SUSPENDED
  • All Pistol Permit Offices - SERVICE SUSPENDED (this includes all business at ALL 3 locations.  Downtown, Cheektowaga & Elma)
  • The Clerk Community Outreach Center - SERVICE SUSPENDED (this includes the Southgate Plaza office and all its scheduled outreaches)
  • Passport Processing - HALTED (this includes our downtown and Southgate locations)
  • Thank-A-Vet Cards - HALTED (this includes our downtown and Southgate locations)
  • All satellite and mobile branches will also be shut down.  

Only people with appointments or conducting essential business will be allowed in. Even if it is a parent with a child, only the parent will be allowed in. 

On Friday, March 20, at 5 p.m., all auto bureaus will be suspending services until March 31 at the earliest.
