GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. — Police responded to a shots-fired call Sunday afternoon on Grand Island.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office said its dispatch center received multiple calls around 1:30 p.m. from people who claimed to hear gunshots in the area of North Colony Road and Fix Road, between the 190 bridge and Beaver Island State Park.

"Callers reported that one vehicle was chasing another while shooting at it," the sheriff's office said Sunday in a statement, adding that at least one home was struck by a bullet.

The sheriff's office is asking people who live in the area to check home security footage that they may have recorded around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. If you do have video, you're asked to call the dispatch center at 716-858-2903.

People are asked to avoid the area while police continue to investigate.
