Man pleads guilty in connection to Buffalo stabbing death

Jose Eiras Oviedo faces 25 years in prison. He will be sentenced on December 18 and is being held without bail.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A 53-year-old man pleaded guilty Wednesday to one felony count of manslaughter in the first degree.

Jose Eiras Oviedo made the plea before the State Supreme Court, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.

He was charged in connection to the August 15 stabbing death of 57-year-old Alina Vega-Lantoron. The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. inside their residence on 15th Street in the City of Buffalo.

Police say Oviedo had also been stabbed, and he was later taken to the Erie County Medical Center.

Oviedo faces 25 years in prison. He will be sentenced on December 18 and is being held without bail.
