NIAGARA COUNTY, N.Y. — A Niagara County man was sentenced to prison for his role in a crash that seriously injured another person.

Mark Printup, 51, of Cambria, was sentenced Tuesday in Erie County Court to 1-1/2 years to 4-1/2 years in prison.  Printup pleaded guilty in December to one count of Vehicular Assault in the First Degree.

Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says the crash happened on August 13, 2022,  Investigators say Printup was under the influence of alcohol when he drove through a stop sign at Utley Road and Hunts Corners Road in the Town of Newstead and hit another vehicle.

The victim, a 22-year-old man from North Tonawanda, had to be cut out of his vehicle by firefighters.  He was taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight.  The victim suffered a traumatic brain injury and fractured pelvis.  He underwent several surgeries and is receiving long-term care for his injuries.

In addition to the prison sentence, Printup was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine, and his driver's license was revoked.
