Lancaster man arrested for allegedly threatening NYS Attorney General over text

State Police told 2 On Your Side that an extreme risk protection order was filed because Vogel allegedly sent text messages to the NYS Attorney General and a judge.

LANCASTER, N.Y. — A Lancaster man is facing charges for allegedly texting threatening messages to the New York Sate Attorney General and a State Supreme Court Justice.

Tyler Vogel, 26, was arraigned on Monday, March 25 in Lancaster Town Court on two counts of Making a Terroristic Threat and two counts of Aggravated Harassment in the Second Degree.

State Police told 2 On Your Side that an extreme risk protection order was filed because Vogel allegedly had sent text messages to New York State Attorney General Letitia James and State Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron with "lethal force" if they seized Trump’s assets.

Donald Trump posted a $175 million bond on Monday in his New York civil fraud case, halting collection of the more than $454 million he owes and preventing the state from seizing his assets to satisfy the debt while he appeals, according to a court filing.

Until the appeals court intervened to lower the required bond, New York Attorney General Letitia James had been poised to initiate efforts to collect the judgment, possibly by seizing some of Trump's marquee properties. James, a Democrat, brought the lawsuit on the state’s behalf. Her office declined to comment Monday.

As for Vogel, investigators say he found the officials' phone numbers by accessing a paid background website.

Vogel was scheduled to return to Lancaster Village Court on March 28 at noon for a felony hearing.  He is currently being held without bail pending a forensic examination.  A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of both victims.

If convicted, Vogel could face a maximum of seven years in prison.
