Protective Industrial Products closing its Hamburg plant

The company was founded in 2004 as Worldwide Protective Products by local partners Matt Stucke, Ed Mesanovic and Kerry Dyer.

HAMBURG, N.Y. — A Hamburg manufacturing plant will close in December, affecting 58 employees out of 63 employees total.

Protective Industrial Products filed a WARN notice Thursday with the state Department of Labor, announcing its intent to close the facility at 4255 McKinley Parkway for economic reasons. The company makes safety gloves, sleeves and garments worn in such industries as automotive, manufacturing, food processing and construction.

According to the notice, the plant will close Dec. 31. Separations with employees begin Dec. 1.
