Millennium reborn as M Hotel as Patel's portfolio grows

At the one-year mark following the purchase, 60% of planned renovations were completed.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — When one of the region’s largest and most visible hotels went up for auction late last year, there was much speculation about what would become of the Millennium Hotel.

The 301-room hotel adjacent to the Walden Galleria and the I-90 ended up in the hands of hotelier Jay Patel who made the winning $6.7 million bid.

Patel’s two companies, Rudra Management and Rosewood Hotels, have a combined portfolio of 25 hotels in the region with familiar names such as Courtyard by Marriott, Comfort Inn and Best Western, as well as independent sites not affiliated with national flags.

That includes M Hotel, the rebranded Millennium, which underwent millions in renovations this year as Patel and his team worked to bring the 20-plus-year-old hotel up to standard.
