Eastern Niagara Hospital goes up for online auction — again

The 5.83-acre campus is being marketed with development opportunities such as residential apartments, office space, retail outlets, and more.

LOCKPORT, N.Y. — Lockport's Eastern Niagara Hospital is heading to the auction block for the second time this spring.

The online auction with Tranzon Auction Properties will run from May 30 to June 6, with a minimum starting bid of $500,000. Promotion for the auction began online May 22.

The company held an initial auction in late April, but the court-appointed receiver working with Citizens Bank — the main creditor – rejected the offers, according to Michael Foster, an auctioneer/broker who represents Tranzon in Buffalo.

“They didn’t get the response they wanted the first time around, so we will run another auction,” he said.

The property went up for sale even before the hospital closed last June with a price tag of $2.9 million. The 134-bed hospital at 521 East Ave. had been operating since 2019 under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, exiting briefly in 2020.
