Daybreak's 'At Home Science': Bouncy Eggs

All of these experiments are great to wow the kids, and use supplies you probably have in your home right now.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — If you're looking for something to do with the kids at home while they're off from school for mid-winter break, Daybreak is here to help!

WGRZ's Melissa Holmes had help from her 5-year-old son Elliott and some of their friends to try out the experiments using things found around the house.

Daybreak will reveal a new experiment each day from February 17 - 21. If you try any of these experiments with your kids, share a photo or video with WGRZ on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #BeOn2 and Daybreak might share them on the air.

Monday - The Bouncy Egg:

Ingredients: vinegar, a raw egg, a cup.

Carefully put the egg in the cup. Cover it completely with vinegar and let it sit for 24 hours.

After the 24 hours has passed, take the egg out and you'll notice the shell has almost entirely come off. Run it under water to completely clean it off.

Then let the kids bounce it! You can also shine a light on it for some cool effects.

What you're seeing is the membrane of the egg.

And just to prove that it's really a raw egg, poke it with a toothpick and you'll see it erupt.

Experiments coming up:

Tuesday - Chemical reactions with a balloon

Wednesday - Marshmallow Catapult

Thursday - Homemade Lava Lamp

Friday - Ice cream in a bag
