BUFFALO, NY - One person has died following the shooting that happened on the I-190 Monday evening.

Police say the victim was traveling north on the I-190 near Niagara street when a second vehicle fired shots into the victims vehicle.

The victim, who's identity has not been released yet, was taken to ECMC where he later died.

The incident happened just after 6:00 PM with a sizable volume of traffic leaving downtown. Fortunately no other vehicles seemed to be involved.

The vehicle was removed around 10:15 and state police cleared the scene.

An eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous told us what she saw and heard. "It was about 6:11 PM when I called 911 after I heard a car hit the median. It was a loud boom. And it seemed to be a one car accident. Traffic was heavy at the time and people got out of the car. The red car as well. People were running around and then someone jumped into the car. Took off his shirt and started assisting the person that was in the car. The ambulance came...they took that person away."

Reporter: Was that an airbag do you think?

Witness: It was all airbags. They broke out the windows when they came on scene. And people came out of the car. The Buffalo PD showed up.

Reporter: Did you see anyone pulled out of the red car?

Witness : They took someone out with an ambulance. They were swaddled. They had blood on their face."
