Power outages reported as winter storm roars across Western New York

Utility crews were on standby to help with power outages as they occurred this weekend across the region.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — While some areas across Western New York got their power restored from a wind storm earlier this week, others lost theirs as another winter storm crossed the region this weekend.

With National Grid, there are less than 90 customers without power in Western New York as of 6:20 p.m. Sunday, with almost all of them in Erie County.

With NYSEG, there was only one customer lacking power as of 6:20 p.m., and that was in Cattaraugus County.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul issued a State of Emergency on Friday, allowing for more resources during the winter storm. She said she activated 100 members of the New York National Guard to help this weekend and added that there were more than 11,000 utility crew members on standby to help deal with any power outages.
