Lake Effect Snow Warning for parts of WNY allowed to expire

Lake Effect Snow Warnings issued for even more snow accumulations are no longer in effect.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The lake effect snow band that has been impacting parts of our area for days and bringing accumulating snow and tough travel conditions, is finally weakening and almost done.  Therefore the Lake Effect Snow Warning for Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming counties until 7 PM this evening was allowed to expire.

Widespread snow is expected to move in on Friday with a few inches of fresh snow possible, and colder air for Friday night.

Many communities in Erie county are now digging out of the several feet of snow that was dumped from the two lake bands since the weekend. Snow totals so far show West Seneca has already received 65 inches since Saturday, Hamburg 62.5 inches, Lackawanna 59.8 inches, Lancaster 56 inches, south Buffalo 53.5 inches, Blasdell 41 inches, the Buffalo Airport 26.3 inches.

And storm lake effect snow totals from Saturday into Monday morning over the past weekend exceeded 3 feet for some locations.  The lake effect snow storm snow totals from the last round show (National Weather Service):
