BUFFALO, N.Y. — One week later, showers are back in the forecast for the second weekend in a row. But this time, it's rain instead of snow.

Western New York is waking up to some light rain moving in Saturday morning. This is associated will a slow moving front that will cross through the region later Saturday evening. Until then, scattered showers will linger throughout the day, and so will clouds, with temperatures hovering near 50 degrees. Rainfall amounts will be just around a quarter of an inch on average.

The heaviest rain is expected to move through mid-morning and into the early afternoon with showers becoming more scattered later in the evening, fizzling out just in time for New Year's Eve celebrations. For the ball drop in Downtown Buffalo, anticipate cloudy and damp conditions with temperatures near 40 degrees. Foggy conditions will be an issue during the evening and overnight, so give yourself extra time as you head home from New Year's celebrations.

And with the combination of the melting snow and rainfall, a Flood Watch has been issued for Erie County and is in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday. more on this can be found here
