Traffic changes will be in effect for Sunday's Buffalo Bills home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Traffic changes will be in effect for Sunday's Buffalo Bills home opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Beginning at 7:45 am, Abbott Road will close to vehicle traffic between the entrance to Lot 4 (north end of the closure) and Lot 2 (south end of the closure). All through traffic will be diverted at that time.

At 9 am, the parking lots at New Era Field will open.

Erie County Sheriff's Deputies will be out looking for excessive alcohol consumption and fans with glass bottles. They are also reminding fans to tailgate responsibly.

The gates to the New Era Field will open at 11 am. Click here for a list of items you can and can't bring into the stadium.

Around 3:30 pm, Route 20 (Big Tree Road) will be closed to westbound traffic from Abbott Road to Route 219 overpass. All vehicles leaving the stadium and private lots on Route 20A must travel east.

The Sheriff's office is encouraging fans to give themselves extra time to arrive at New Era Field.  There is a new traffic pattern on the I-90 between route 400 and the 219 and the Skyway (Route 5).

The NYSDOT will reopen two lanes of the Skyway in both directions Saturday evening at 10 pm.
