Erie County Sheriff's Office advises people to avoid I-190 southbound

Erie County Sheriff Garcia is alerting all drivers to avoid the area until further notice.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — UPDATE: Police have cleared the scene and the I-190SB lanes have reopened.

Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia put out a release encouraging all drivers in the area to avoid the I-190 southbound by Niagara Street and Porter until further notice.

Traffic headed towards that way will be diverted off the roadway at exit 11.

The shutdown comes after an incident that happened earlier Thursday morning involving 2 confirmed people shot while traveling on the I-190.

State Police are continuing an on-going investigation. 2 On Your Side has a crew headed to the scene and will have more details as they become available.
