Won-Buffalo weekend: Three Buffalo sports teams earn wins over the weekend

The Sabres, Bandits, and now the Bills are all celebrating as they each earned wins in their games during the first weekend of the new year.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — It's a great time to be a Buffalo sports fan.

After the Bills got the job done in Miami on Sunday night, the Won-Buffalo weekend was complete.

The Buffalo Sabres kicked things off Saturday night with a 3-1 victory down in Pittsburgh, as the team capped off a three-game road trip. Alex Tuch, Zemgus Girgensons, and Rasmus Dahlin all scored, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 40 saves as the Sabres grabbed their second consecutive win of the new year.

Back in Buffalo, the Bandits hosted the Colorado Mammoth in a championship rematch at the KeyBank Center. After outscoring the Mammoth 7-1 in the first half, Josh Byrne and the Bandits used their early momentum to secure their second win of the season as they beat Colorado 12-8. Matt Vinc finished the night with 49 saves for Buffalo.

Finally, the Buffalo Bills were down in Miami taking their shot at their fourth consecutive AFC East title. The Bills did just that and then some, as they beat Dolphins 21-14 locking them into the two-seed in this year's playoffs and completing the 'Won-Buffalo' weekend.

All three Buffalo professional sports teams are starting the new year off on a high note, as each team remains undefeated in 2024 thus far.

Each team will play again this weekend as both the Sabres and Bandits play on Saturday evening, while the Bills play on Sunday afternoon.
