Bills coach Bob Babich to introduce Brian Urlacher at the Hall of Fame

Bob Babich coached Chicago Bears legend Brian Urlacher from 2004 through 2012 first as his linebackers coach then defensive coordinator.

PITTSFORD, NY - Bob Babich is ready to start his second season as linebackers coach of the Buffalo Bills. He's in the middle of training camp, ready to see how 16th overall pick, Tremaine Edmunds can lead this defense.

But this weekend, his focus is on a former player.

Two months after Chicago Bears legend Brian Urlacher was voted into the hall, he called his former coach to ask him if he would introduce him on the big day.

"For me it was just an unbelievable moment. I respect him so much. The guy is everything that I believe in in football so it was a very humbling moment," Bob Babich said.

Babich coached Urlacher frm 2004 through 2012 first as his position coach then defensive coordinator In that time Babich saw Urlacher make countless highlight-reel plays and in 2005 he was named NFL defensive player of the year.

"It didn't take long for us to realize he was a hall of fame football player," Babich explained.

"He is such a good guy and such a good football player and the face of the franchise for so many years so for his career to finish like this with a Hall of Fame induction it's only fitting," Babich said.

And throughout the years, the two have stayed in touch whether it's meeting up in person or just talking on the phone or through text messaging. Babich and his wife, Nancy, even went to Urlacher's wedding a few years ago.

"He's part of our family so he's always going to be part of our family just like with a lot of players I've coach but he's a good guy," Babich explained.

Babich's speech will be part of a video presentation to introduce Urlacher during the ceremony on Saturday in Canton.
