The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating whether two recent Macon bank robberies are connected.
"That's always something we'll look at," said Bibb County sheriff’s Lt. Randy Gonzalez adding that there's no confirmation that the robberies are connected. "It's part of the investigation. Both (suspects) were unarmed."
The more recent robbery occurred Friday at the CGR Credit Union located inside Medical Center, Navicent Health, 770 Pine St. At about 1:40 p.m., a male entered the lobby and advised the teller he needed to make a deposit, according to a sheriff's office news release.
The teller told the man he needed to fill out a deposit slip. The man then took a note from an envelope, which demanded money, and handed it to the teller, the news release states. He ran from the bank east on Cotton Avenue after the teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money.
He's described as late 40s early 50s, about 6 feet and 175 to 180 pounds.
On May 2, a man walked into the BB&T on Second Street in downtown Macon. He said he wanted to cash a check, but instead handed the teller a note demanding money.
He immediately exited the bank after the teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money.
He was described as 5-feet-8, between 160-180 lbs., and was wearing a black ball cap with a burgundy polo and blue jeans.
