Report: Tesla Buffalo solar factory exporting most of its cells

A report by Reuters news agency indicates that a "great majority" of the solar cells being produced at the Tesla factory in South Buffalo are being sold overseas and not being used for Tesla's "solar roof" as intended.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A report by Reuters news agency indicates that a "great majority" of the solar cells being produced at the Tesla factory in South Buffalo are being sold overseas and not being used for Tesla's "solar roof" as intended.

Reuters reviewed company documents and interviewed a WNY Telsa employee to determine where the Buffalo made cells were being sent. The building Tesla operates out of was funded by New York State as part of the Buffalo Billion program.

A Tesla official declined to comment on the situation to Reuters or provide figures.
