Usually, celebrities don't tweet photos of their underwear when they're emphasizing their modesty. Only in Amanda Seyfried's case.

The actress, who stars in the new movie Fathers and Daughters and recently talked to USA TODAY about her work with welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society, tweeted a picture of a specific pair of undies she wore during a photo shoot. She included the message: "That was not a vagina it was a Cosabella nude, lace thong."

The tweet was a response to reports saying Seyfried "flashed" pedestrians during a photo shoot in Paris.

Seyfried told USA TODAY she wanted to use social media to set the record straight. "I wear underwear no matter what," she said. For that shoot, "I was wearing a sheer outfit, so I wear nude underwear so it doesn’t show through. People had been saying that I bared all, and I wanted it to be very clear that no one has seen my vagina. That’s something that I take very private."

As for nudity, in general, "I think it's beautiful," she says. "I don’t find it offensive in certain scenes (in movies)."

What is offensive? Having paparazzi take photos from below, when you're wearing a loose, short shirt.

The message was a departure for Seyfried, who isn't used to seeing salacious stories being written about her (lack of) undergarments. The 30-year-old star is usually posting to social media about her her charity work.
