Woman struck in Tops parking lot identified

East Aurora Police say Wendy L. Bus, 48, of Colden, was killed when she was struck by a vehicle Sunday in East Aurora in the Tops parking lot.

EAST AURORA, N.Y. -- East Aurora Police have identified the woman killed in a supermarket parking lot over the weekend. Wendy Bus, 48, of Colden, was struck while pushing a grocery cart in the parking lot of an East Aurora supermarket on Sunday.

The accident happened in the Tops parking lot, on Grey Street. It's believed Bus was struck by a vehicle that was traveling in reverse, driven by an 18-year-old man. The driver has not been charged, but East Aurora Police Chief Shane Krieger told Channel 2 "it's possible" charges will be filed.

Alcohol was not involved, but the police chief believes the accident was preventable.

The East Aurora Police Department has requested assistance from the Erie County Sheriff’s Crash Investigation Unit.

East Aurora Police, the East Aurora Fire Department, and AMR Ambulance responded to the scene.

Bus was taken to the Erie County Medical Center, where she later died of her injuries. Her son was with her at the time of the accident.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident. The name of the 18-year-old driver and any charges he may have have not been released.
