Police seeking to verify facts in alleged abduction in Cheektowaga

A woman says she escaped an abduction attempt in Cheektowaga over the weekend.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Cheektowaga woman reported to police in the town that she was the victim of an attempted abduction over the weekend.

Kelly asked that her full name not be revealed because she is a teacher.

She told 2 On Your Side's Andy Paden that she had spent the evening with friends at various downtown establishments. Her last stop before driving home was Lucky Day Whiskey Bar.

She drove home and said she never noticed anyone following her on the 33 (Kensington Expressway).

"I don't know that I would have noticed anyone following me because it's the highway and everyone seems to go in the same direction on the 33. So I didn't notice anything suspicious and I pulled into my driveway, unlocked my car or whatever, and got out and he was standing right by my door and it was dark so I wouldn't have seen him and he was kind of hidden along the side of the house where there is a shadow from the roof," Kelly said.

She said she fought back as the man put her in his vehicle. She managed to break free by lunging over the back seat and grabbing the wheel.

A spokesperson for the Cheektowaga Police Department confirms that a police report is on file. Detectives have been working on this case to gather and verify information.
