OLEAN, N.Y. — An Allegany native who suffered a serious gunshot wound at Fort Hood will be back in Cattaraugus County this summer for a benefit concert.

Colonel Patrick Miller is an organizer of the Southern Tier Wounded Warrior Benefit Concert. Proceeds will benefit injured veterans in the Southern Tier and all of Western New York.

Country singer Tyler Farr, whose hits include “A Guy Walks into a Bar,” “Whiskey in my Water,” and “Redneck Crazy” will headline the show. Buffalo musician and singer Ade Adu will be the opening act.

The show is scheduled for Saturday, July 20 at Bradner Stadium in Olean from 4pm-10pm.

Col. Miller helped others get to safety behind a locked door when Major Nidal Hasan opened fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas in November 2009. The mass shooting left 14 people dead and 32 others wounded, including Col. Miller.

He suffered a gunshot wound to his abdomen that nearly hit his heart. He underwent emergency surgery and has since recovered and been promoted in the military. Col. Miller received the Soldier’s Medal for his bravery.

Col. Miller is an Allegany native and a graduate of Saint Bonaventure University.

Tickets for the concert sell for $33.85 and can be purchased here.
