CHERRY CREEK, N.Y. -- Crews from multiple agencies responded to the scene of a fire in Chautauqua County Monday evening at a beloved local business.

The fire happened at the Trillium Lodge, at 6830 Main Street in Cherry Creek.

Cherry Creek Fire Chief Terry Sheldon said on the scene although nobody was inside the facility at the time of the fire, the Trillium Lodge was a favorite community restaurant and the fire caused a loss to the community.

"It's going to be hard, we're going to miss it," he said.

He also said 14 departments responded to the fire, along with about 100 other first-responders.

It was a busy day, as Cherry Creek and other fire departments were responding to storms that caused tornado watches and flood warnings throughout the region.

Brian Weaver, a Cherry Creek resident, like many neighbors came out to see the fire at The Trillium. He said the eatery was not only known for great food, but also for being a place where community members enjoyed getting together.

As for what's next, Weaver said he hopes the restaurant considers rebuilding.

"It's a big part of the town," he said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
