Erie County DA to leave office March 31

Flynn says his last day as Erie County District Attorney will be March 31.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Erie County District Attorney John Flynn officially announced Thursday that he will be stepping down at the end of March.

Flynn announced this past November that he would not seek reelection, and hinted he might leave office early.

Flynn says his last day as Erie County District Attorney will be March 31. He will begin his new position with the law firm Lippes Mathias immediately.

Flynn has served the District Attorney's office since 2017 and ran unopposed in 2020 for his second term. Flynn is currently serving as President of the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York.

Michael J. Keane will take over the Erie County DA's office after Flynn leaves.

Flynn joins former NYS Attorney General Dennis Vacco at the firm. Vacco previously served as an Assistant District Attorney for Erie County before being elected New York State Attorney General in 1994, and prior to that was appointed United States Attorney for the Western District.
