Old AM&A's Building in Downtown Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The old AM&A's Building at 377 Main Street in Downtown Buffalo has been sold.

Records from the Erie County Clerk's Office show Landco H&L Inc. purchased the property for $2.775 million, though little is known about the company or its plans.

The building has sat vacant for years. For decades, it was home to the AM&A's Department Store. Bon-Ton bought the local chain and operated the downtown store for a short time before closing it in the mid-1990's. Local businessman Richard Taylor ran the upscale Taylor's Department Store in the building for a couple of years in the late 1990's.

Since then, many developers have shown interest in the building and had plans for retail and residential redevelopment. But their plans never came to fruition.
